SLEEPY EYE - Evelyn Siekmann, age 78, of Sleepy Eye, died Saturday, Aug. 11, 2012, at St. John Lutheran Home in Springfield.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m., Wednesday, Aug. 15, at Zion Lutheran Church in Springfield with burial at Zion Lutheran Cemetery.

Visitation is Wednesday from 9 a.m. until time of services at the church. Pastor David Fretham, officiating. Condolences may be sent via e-mail at: www.sturmfh.com. Arrangements are with Sturm Funeral Home in Springfield.

Evelyn Mae Siekmann was born Nov. 13, 1933, in Holly Township, Murray County the daughter of Harold 'Casey' and Alice Mae (Parks) Hamilton. She was baptized April 21, 1935, and confirmed May 9, 1947, at the Holly Methodist Church. Evelyn was later re-confirmed in October of 1954, at the Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church in Tracy. She graduated from Walnut Grove High School in 1951, then attended Minneapolis Business College. Evelyn was united in marriage to Glen Siekmann on Oct. 22, 1954, at Zion Lutheran Church in Tracy. She worked at Pietrus Produce Company in Sleepy Eye, the Farmers and Merchants Bank in Tracy, and later at the Renville County Museum as assistant curator. Evelyn enjoyed her daily devotions, playing Scrabble, and especially enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren.

She is survived by children, Janet (Leonard) Groff of Springfield, Beverly (Larry) Roiger of St. Peter, Glenda Zupfer of Redwood Falls, Connie (Steven) Gregg of Sleepy Eye, Ruth (David) Johnson of Mankato, Garry (Gail) Siekmann of Fayetteville, NC, Gloria (Lee) Hale of Sleepy Eye, Duane (Tracy) Siekmann of Springfield, and Laura (Tom) Hanson of Fairmont; 20 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; and sisters, Florence Knakmuhs of Springfield, and Betty (Merle) Domine of Wabasso.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Casey and Alice Hamilton; husband Glen in 1999; daughter Muriel Siekmann; and great-granddaughter Emma Groff.
