William “Bill” L. Harens

GAYLORD-William "Bill" L. Harens, 92, of Gaylord, died Monday, Aug. 6, 2012, at the VA Health Care Center in St. Cloud.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m., Saturday, Au. 11, at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Gaylord, with burial in the Catholic Cemetery in Glencoe. Military Honors by the Glencoe VFW Post 5102.

Visitation will be 4-7 p.m., Friday, Aug. 10, at the Egesdal Funeral Home in Gaylord. A prayer service will be held at 7 p.m. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday.

William Leander Harens was born on Feb. 28, 1920, in Granville, Iowa, to John and Elizabeth (Huberty) Harens.

He served in the U.S. Army during World War II from July 8, 1942, to October 6, 1945.

He is survived by his children, Harlan Harens of Austin, TX, Terrance Harens of Hanover, MA, Lawrence Harens of Vacaville, CA, Victor Harens of Gaylord, Deborah Harens of Fairmont, William R. Harens of Cokato, and Thomas Harens of Edina; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; siblings, Helen Slanga of Hutchinson, and Charles Harens of Lakeville.
