NEW ULM - Linda Keim smelled smoke as she approached her house at 1106 N. Washington St. after running some errands Thursday morning. When she opened the door of her home she knew where the smell was coming from. Her kitchen was in flames.
Keim ran from the house and called 9-1-1. By the time police and firefighters responded the building was engulfed in flames.
Firefighters extinguished the blaze, but the home suffered heavy damages, according to New Ulm Fire Chief Peter Macho.
