To the editor:
I thought Allen Quist was no longer active in politics. Quist became well known back in the 1990s when he ran for governor twice and lost both times. In the 1980s, Quist served in the State Legislature he lost a conservative House district in 1988 because of controversial comments he made. As hard as it is to believe, Quist went undercover to an x-rated bookstore in Mankato to conduct an "investigation." This type of behavior is why he was defeated in 1988.
In 1994, Quist stated his opinion that men are "genetically predisposed" to be the heads of household.
I think most Republicans recognize that Quist is too far out of the mainstream to get elected. Imagine the ads the Democrats will run against Quist if he's the Republican candidate in November.
I will be casting my vote on Aug. 14 for Mike Parry, who is a strong conservative with a solid track record.
