LONDON - New Ulm's Ali Bernard's lost her opening match to Jenny Fransson of Sweden, then was eliminated from competition as Fransson lost her next match.
Bernard lost 3-0, 3-1 to Fransson. Stanka Zlateva of Bulgaria, a five-time world champion, then defeated Fransson 1-0, 1-0.
"It was just bad,'' a clearly disappointed Bernard said in a videotaped interview with TheMat.tv after the match (view interview at http://www.themat.tv/2012/08/olympic-podcast-ali-bernard/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=olympic-podcast-ali-bernard). "I just didn't come ready, and I did poorly. I just really don't know what else to say. It was not a good situation."
