NEW ULM - Edwin "Eddie" Sehr, 76, of New Ulm, died Saturday, August 4, 2012 at his home.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 a.m., Wednesday, August 8, at the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity in New Ulm with Monsignor John A. Richter celebrating the Mass. Burial will be in the New Ulm Catholic Cemetery with full military honors being conducted by the New Ulm Area Comrades of Valor Honor Guard.
Visitation will be 4 - 8 p.m. Tuesday and from 7:30 - 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in New Ulm. There will be a parish prayer service at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. To leave an online condolence for his family or to sign the guestbook go to: www.mvfh.org.
Edwin is survived by his wife, Mary Beth Sehr of New Ulm; daughters and sons-in-law, Mary Ellen and Rex Rewerts of Mound, Diane and Albert Swintek of Maple Grove, Jane and Guy Lohman of Danbury, Wisconsin; son and daughter-in-law, Steven and Debb Sehr of Park Rapids; ten grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; sister and brother-in-law, Mary Ann and Irvin Zenk of Albert Lea; brother and sister-in-law, Raymond and Lois Sehr of New Ulm; and nieces; and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Irene Griebel; and brothers, Linus and Benedict Sehr.
Edwin George Sehr was born on August 3, 1936 in New Ulm to Benedict and Clara (Reiniger) Sehr. He served in the U. S. Navy from May of 1954 to August of 1957. On March 1, 1956 he was united in marriage to Mary Beth Bechner at St. Mary's Catholic Church in New Ulm. Eddie worked at American Artstone in New Ulm for eighteen years and then at 3M in New Ulm and Hutchinson until he retired. He enjoyed fishing, woodworking and hunting. Eddie was a member of the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity in New Ulm, American Legion Post 132, and the D.A.V. Chapter 15.
