Quist raises $18,800 in July

August 2, 2012
By Josh Moniz - Staff Writer , The Journal

Minnesota 1st District Congressional candidate Allen Quist raised $18,800 for July, according to Wednesday's special pre-primary FEC fundraising report.

Quist's report followed his last FEC fundraising report, showing a high amount of self-funding compared to relatively small contributions raised. The subtotals of Quist's fundraising show $10,000 was given by Quist himself, while $8,800 came from contributions. Quist previously claimed to have raised $9,000 at a fundraiser he hosted with U.S. Congresswoman Michele Bachmann on July 20. Despite the incompatible math, the estimated amount raised at the event would likely account for nearly all of the July fundraising.

Quist, who is running against State Sen. Mike Parry in the Aug. 14 primary, also spent $66,135 in July, his biggest spending push yet. Nearly all of the expense consisted of $50,975 for major air time purchases for his TV ad. The subtotals broke down into $42,500 with Charter Media and $8,475 with KEYC of Mankato. He also took out ads in radio and newspapers.

Quist ended the month with $117,878 in cash on hand.
