The Brown County Republican Party will hold its annual FunRaiser on Monday, Aug. 6, at the home of Rep. Paul Torkelson on Lake Hanska. It starts at 6 p.m., and dinner will be served at 6:30 p.m.
U.S. Senate candidate, Kurt Bills, who is running against incumbent Amy Klobuchar, is the featured speaker. Bills is currently a member of the Minnesota House of Representatives and an economics teacher at Rosemount High School.
Minnesota 1st Congressional District candidates, Allen Quist and state Sen. Mike Parry, are also featured speakers. Quist is a former state legislator, farmer, and college educator Parry is the chair of the State Government Innovations and Veterans Committee in the Minnesota Senate and a small business owner. They are in the Aug. 14 primary, which will determine the Republican challenger to Democratic incumbent Congressman Tim Walz.
Other speakers are state Sen. Gary Dahms, who represents Brown Count, and Torkelson, who represents Brown County in the House of Representatives. They will address issues particularly relevant to Brown County.
