If you've never been to the Brown County Relay for Life before, we suggest you give it a visit today. You may be surprised at the festive atmosphere surrounding a fundraiser for the American Cancer Society, but it is a truly, life-affirming, hope-filled event.
The 22 teams marching this year will be setting up booths and displays that provide a real carnival atmosphere. There will be entertainment, a silent auction an activities throughout the night.
A major part of the program is the recognition of the cancer survivors in the crowd who take a special lap to kick off the walk.
To us, the best part of the night are the luminaria that line the track in front of the grandstand. As the night gets darker they shine with a gentle glow, and the names of the cancer survivors and victims stand out in the darkness, reminding you of all the people you know who have dealth with this disease.
We hope people will go and spend some time at the fairgrounds to support the Relay for Life, which has raised over $1.3 million for the American Cancer Society.
