ST. CLOUD?- Southern Minnesota Diamonds finished runnerups in the 18U Minnesota State Class B Tier 1 competition Sunday at St. Cloud.
The Diamonds lost to Duluth Corvettes, 6-1in the championship game. Sarah Nelsen was 2-for-3 with a run scored; Sydney Schuck, was 2-for-3. Darcie Bottem pitched the complete game.
The Diamonds end the season with a 23-7 record, which included winning the Southern Star League championship.
In the first game on Sunday, the Diamonds defeated the Bo Diddlies of St. Cloud 9-1. Schuck gave up six hits and threw six strikeouts.
Emily Wessel went 2-for-4 with two runs; Sydney Remus went 4-for-4 with three runs.
In the second game, the Diamonds defeated the Duluth Corvettes 8-1. Morgan Schwarz, went 2-for 4, with two runs; Dionna Brinkman went 2-for-3. Bottem pitched the complete game, giving up three hits and throwing three strikeouts.
In the third game, the Duluth Corvettes downed the Diamonds 4-0.
