ST. CLOUD - The New Ulm 18s went 2-0 Saturday in the Class B 18U State Softball Tournament, defeating Sartell 11-0 in four innings and Sauk Rapids 4-3 in an international tiebreaker.
In the first game, Maddy Helget earned the win. She pitched four innings and allowed one hit.
Kristi Larson was 2-for-3 and Kali Denn was 1-for-3 with a double.
In the second game, Carlie Maasz earned the win. She went seven innings and allowed six hits and she struck out nine.
Denn was 2-for-3 with two runs and Hallie Kuelbs was 2-for-4. Ellie Schneider had the game-tying RBI and Charlotte Pfingsten had the game-winning RBI. Pfingsten was also 2-for-4.
New Ulm (30-3) plays the Minnesota Chaos at 8 a.m. today.
