SPRINGFIELD - The Leavenworth Orioles battled back from a 4-0 deficit to defeat the Springfield Tigers 5-4 Friday night in a Tomahawk East amateur baseball game.
Springfield scored all of its run in the bottom of the fourth, with a Marc Salazar double driving in the first two runs. Adam Schmid followed with an RBI groundout and Ryan Beyer brought home Salazar with an infield single.
Mike Berberich recorded a bases-loaded, two-run single for the Orioles in the top of the sixth to cut the score to 4-2. Leavenworth tied the game in the top of the seventh, taking advantage of three Tigers errors in the inning to score two unearned runs.
The Orioles scored the winning run in the top of the ninth when Chris Reinarts drove in Briar Braulick with a two-out RBI double.
Braulick earned a complete-game win on the mound, allowing six hits, walking four and striking out five.
Jason Nachreiner (two innings pitched, one run, two hits, two walks, one strikeout) took the loss for the Tigers in relief of starting pitcher Frank (seven innings pitched, seven hits, two earned runs, two walks, six strikeouts).
Salazar led the Springfield offense with two hits and two RBI. Alex Fink, Ryan Sturm, Beyer and Jacob Menage added one hit each for Springfield.
Braulick led Leavenworth with three hits, with Zach Mickelson adding two hits.
The Tigers (9-13 overall, 9-9 in league play) will hit the road tonight to play the New Ulm Brewers at 7:30 p.m. at Johnson Park. Leavenworth (6-11 in league play) will host Stark tonight at 7:30 p.m.
