NEW ULM - The opening for the New Ulm Menards store, which began groundwork in May, has been pushed up to the early winter months in 2013.
Previously, Menards officials announced a spring 2013 opening. Officials declined to comment on why the schedule had moved up.
In a recent press release, Menards, Inc. provided some information about services that will be offered at the New Ulm store. The store will carry some extended lines of name brand appliances and garden equipment as well as pet supplies and groceries.
Menards, Inc. has not given any information on the store's final design or the number of potential employees.
City officials have expressed enthusiasm that the store will lead to economic development for New Ulm, as well as creating more interest for other businesses to build in the development corridor.
The completed store will be located at the intersection of Highway 14 West and Palmer Avenue in New Ulm, just beyond the current site of Wal-Mart.
