SE council considers long-term power contract

From 2021 through 2051

SLEEPY EYE - The Sleepy Eye City Council will consider a long-term firm electric service reserve contract with Western Area Power Administration at its Tuesday, July 10 meeting.

The contract scheduled for Jan. 1, 2021 through Dec. 31, 2051 with the U.S. Department of Energy offers Sleepy Eye a new, long-term service reserve contract.

The contract would begin prior to the termination of its existing electric service contract to assist customer resource planning until a new, long-term service contract is executed.

The city council will also consider:

* Discuss the Federal Emergency Management Administration (FEMA) National Flood Insurance Program, which the City of Sleepy Eye does not current belong to.

* A new parks division skid loader.

* A Snow Farm Improvements Project hearing.

* City engineer reports on the 2012 Street & Utility and Sewer Main & Lift projects.

The meeting starts at 7 p.m. in the city council chambers.
