July 6, 2012
The Journal

NEW ULM - Brown County commissioners will consider authorizing the sale of two small Massey Ferguson tractors and remaining parts from a third tractor, on Tuesday, July 10.

The county bought three small tractors for mowing in 1977 that were used for many years to mow road ditches and establish turf, according to the Request for Board Action (RBA).

In 2002, one of the tractors had major mechanical problems and was scrapped for parts to be used in the other two tractors. The remaining two tractors have mechanical issues and have been used less and less since 2002, according to the RBA.

The Brown County Highway Department is now using Case and John Deere tractors for mowing and spraying, Skid steers are used to establish turf, according to the RBA. Remaining parts from the third tractor would be sold on a website such as Minn Bid (State of Minnesota Surplus Services).

Commissioners will also consider:

Appointing Amy Urberg as Assistant Brown County Attorney as of July 18, ending her temporary position with the county attorney's office. The appointment by the County Attorney is without salary paid by Brown County.

Urberg will assist the County Attorney during a leave of absence by Assistant County Attorney Mary Kay Mages.

A 2012-2013 Minnesota Department of Natural Resources (DNR) Off-Highway (ATV all-terrain-vehicle) grant agreement of $5,608 for each year.

The meeting starts at 9 a.m. Tuesday, July 10 in the commissioner's room at the court house.
