Johanneck to be ordained Saturday at Cathedral

NEW ULM - Deacon Aaron T. Johanneck, son of Thomas and Constance Johanneck of Seaforth, will be ordained to the priesthood by Bishop John M. LeVoir on Saturday, June 30, at 10 a.m. at the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity in New Ulm. A reception will follow.

Johanneck is a 2001 graduate of Wabasso High School. In 2005 he received a Bachelor of Arts in Catholic studies from the University of St. Thomas, St. Paul, with minors in sociology and music. His seminary education includes pre-theology at the St. Paul Seminary, St. Paul (2005-2007); a Bachelor of Sacred Theology (STB) from the Pontifical Gregorian University, Rome (2007-2010); and a License in Sacred Theology (STL) from the Pontifical University of the Holy Cross, Rome (2010-present).

On Oct. 7, 2010, he was ordained to the diaconate at the Basilica of St. Peter in Vatican City by Bishop Bernard A. Hebda. From October 2010 to June 2011 he interned at the Church of St. Mary in New Ulm.

Following his ordination, Johanneck will have a parish assignment for six weeks before returning to the Pontifical North American College in Rome to complete his studies.

Johanneck will offer a Mass of Thanksgiving on Sunday, July 1, at 3 p.m. at the Church of St. Mary in Seaforth.
