Hanska woman, St. Peter teen are fatalities in accident near Brownton

BROWNTON - A Hanska woman and a St. Peter teenager died as a result of injuries sustained in a three-vehicle accident at noon Saturday on Highway 15, south of Brownton.

Beatrice Klinkner, 77, of Hanska, was taken to Hennepin County Medical Center where she died Saturday evening. Ashley R. Leonard, 13, of St. Peter died at the scene.

According to the Minnesota State Patrol, a 1997 Chevy Club Cab pickup driven by Blake Leonard, 19, of St. Peter, with Ashley Leonard, 13, of St. Peter as the passenger, was traveling southbound on Highway 15 when it crossed into the northbound lane of traffic and struck a 2006 Mercury Mountaineer driven by Klinkner. A 2008 Chrysler Town and Country driven by Mia Lyke, 44, of Claremont, then struck the Klinkner car from behind. Daniel Lyke, 45, of Claremont, and Brittney Lyke, 16, of Claremont, were passengers in the Lyke vehicle.

All survivors suffered non-life threatening injuries. The Lykes were taken to the Hutchinson Hospital. Blake Leonard was taken to Hennepin County Medical Center. All individuals involved in the crash were wearing seatbelts and airbags were deployed.

The three vehicles were totaled.
