NEW ULM - Grace Schroeder, 86, of New Ulm died Friday, June 22, 2012 at the Sleepy Eye Care Center in Sleepy Eye.

Funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, June 27, at Courtland Evangelical Lutheran Church in Courtland with Pastor Melvin Schwark officiating. There will be a graveside service at 10 a.m. Thursday, June 28 at the columbarium at the New Ulm City Cemetery.

Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Tuesday and 7:30-8 a.m. Wednesday at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in New Ulm, and will continue for one hour prior to the time of service at the church on Wednesday. To leave an online condolence for her family or to sign the guestbook go to: www.mvfh.org.

Grace is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Judy and Richard Schugel of New Ulm, Linda and Jerry Scharbach of Beulah, N.D., Lea Ann and Doug Windschitl, Nancy Woltman, all of Urbana, Ill.; son and daughter-in-law, Dean and Kelly Schroeder of Zion, Ill.; 12 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and brothers and sister-in-law, Lyle Mielke of New Ulm, Darwin and Beverly Mielke of Mission Viejo, Calif. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Dennis Schroeder in 2007; a grandson, Dustin Windschitl in 2012; and a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Earl and Myrtle Schroeder.

Grace Marilyn Mielke was born on Oct. 12, 1925 in Milford Township, Brown County to Carl and Myrtle (Harris) Mielke. On Aug. 23, 1944 she was united in marriage to Dennis Schroeder at St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church in New Ulm. Grace had worked at M.V.T.L., J & R Schugel Trucking, and Edelweiss-Flower Haus. She enjoyed bowling, growing flowers, fixing puzzles and spending time in North Dakota. Grace was a member of Courtland Evangelical Lutheran Church, and the Courtland Sewing Club.
