NEW ULM - Betty Jean (Mundy) Halverson from New Ulm, passed away on Saturday, June 16th of 2012 at Divine Providence in Sleepy Eye.
The funeral service will be held at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church in New Ulm, with Pastor Jeffrey Bovee officiating on Saturday, June 23, at 11 a.m.
Visitation will be for one hour before the service at the church. Burial will follow in the Lutheran Cemetery in New Ulm.

Betty Jean Halverson was born Sept. 4, 1923, in Folsom Township, in Traverse County, to Philip and Elsa (Klemm) Mundy. She was baptized on Sept. 23, 1923, at Zion Lutheran Church in Browns Valley. She was confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church.
Betty Jean met Kenneth Halverson while working in the Metro Area. They were married on Feb. 19, 1946. In 1947, he was transferred to Ford Motor Company in Atlanta, GA, where he worked until retirement. When Kenneth retired in 1982, they moved to New Ulm, where Kenneth grew up. They both enjoyed their retirement years in New Ulm.
Betty Jean had been active in her church both here and in Atlanta. She enjoyed baking and cooking, feeding the birds, playing bridge, and flower gardening. She enjoyed spending time with her neighbor friends and her many relatives.
On July 4, 2011, Betty Jean suffered a massive heart attack. She was at Abbott Northwestern for six days. During the summer, she had been hospitalized in New Ulm Hospital at different times. On Oct. 20th of 2011 she moved into Divine Providence Care Center in Sleepy Eye.
She is survived by some siblings and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth Halverson, on June 9th of 2003; her parents, some siblings; and a few nieces and nephews.
Memorials are preferred to St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church Building Fund, or your choice.
