NEW ULM - High-performance engines will rev up this weekend as hundreds of participants and many more spectators are expected for the 2012 New Ulm Autofest at Maday Motors and Joe's Camper Sales on Highway 15 on the south edge of town.
Owners of stock and souped up Thunderbirds, Corvettes, Mustangs, Chargers, AMX's, '30s era coupes, Model A's and T's, pickups, dragsters, motorcycles and other vehicles are urged to tune and shine up their vehicles and roll into the show starting at 10 a.m. Sunday.
No trophies will be awarded, but car calendars and can coolers will be given to the first 250 show participants.

Vehicles can be tested on a dynometer while a DJ performs. Food and refreshments will be served on site all day.
Cars to be displayed include three owned by Autofest car club members Paul Maday, Mark Dauer, and Allen Lamm. The men will show a 1966 Rambler Ambassador DPL with black and white houndstooth interior, a 1977 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme and a 1971 Pontiac LeMans.
Maday bought the Rambler Ambassador three years ago from a Litchfield Chrysler dealer owner.

"I had my eye on it for about 20 years," said Maday.
Dauer bought his 1977 Olds Cutlass Supreme at McKenzie Motors in New Ulm back in the 1970s when the car was just eight months old. He's kept it in storage most of the time since then.
"I fell in love with it then and still like it," Dauer added.
Lamm bought his 1971 Pontiac LeMans from an Iowa owner who advertised it on Craig's List.
"Most of the paint is original," Lamm said. "It's got a nice ride and is easy to work on."
The Southern Minnesota Model Car Collectors will display their models.
Raffles, drawings and silent auctions will be held.
Last year, more than 300 vehicles were registered at Autofest.
"With good weather - the forecast high is 82 degrees and sunny conditions - we could have up to 400 registered vehicles," said Maday.
