Richard “Dick” Davis

CAMBRIA Richard "Dick" Davis, 92, of Cambria, died Saturday, June 9, 2012 at the Oaklawn Health Care Center in Mankato.

Funeral service will be 10:30 a.m., Thursday, June 14 at the Cambria Presbyterian Church with Rev. Penny Johnson officiating. Burial with full military honors conducted by the New Ulm Area Comrades of Valor Honor Guard will follow in the Preri Bach Cemetery, rural Cambria.

Visitation will be 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Schmucker Funeral Service in New Ulm and one hour prior to the service at the church.

Richard Webster Davis, the son of Daniel Webster Davis and Rebecca (Ryley) Davis was born Feb. 27, 1920 in Cambria Township, Blue Earth County, Minn. After attending Lake Crystal High School, Dick entered the United States Army April 7, 1942. He was united in marriage to Aileen McNeill Sept. 29, 1944 in Sydney, New South Wales, Australia. The couple made their home in Queensland, Australia where Dick completed his military service. After his honorable discharge on Nov. 18, 1945, they moved to Cambria where they farmed for many years. Later, he worked in insurance and feed sales. They continued to make their home on the family farm until moving to North Mankato in August 2011. He was a member of the Cambria Presbyterian Church and Evans American Legion Post #329.

Survivors include his wife Aileen of North Mankato; children, David Davis of Courtland, Michael Davis of Eden Prairie, Pamela (Chuck) Buhr of Poynette, WI, Timothy (Kathy Thielges) Davis of Mankato, Mark (Janie) Davis of Mankato, Todd (Robin) Davis of Mankato; fifteen grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews and other relatives.

He was preceded in death by brothers, Wesley and Cecil Davis; sisters, Claudice Pearson and Lucille Davis and a sister in infancy.
