MANKATO - A 65-year-old rural Sleepy Eye woman stopped for speeding on Highway 60 near Madison Lake last Thursday was arrested for methamphetamine possession by a Blue Earth County sheriff's deputy.
A deputy said he saw a meth pipe in Mary L. Pepper's purse while she searched for her proof of insurance, according to a complaint. She allegedly threw the suspected meth pipe at the deputy, told him to leave her alone and tried to drive away when he asked to see her purse.
The deputy grabbed her by the arm, told Pepper, whose address is listed at 29598 235th Ave., that she was under arrest and turned off the engine of a pickup truck she was driving.
A bag containing 12 grams of a white powder that tested positive for methamphetamine was allegedly found when the purse was searched, the complaint said.
