NEW ULM - A brief but violent thunderstorm sent a burst of 65 mph winds through the Airport Industrial Park area of New Ulm Wednesday.

Air conditioning units were blown off the roof at O'Reilly Auto Parts.
The winds damaged buildings at the New Ulm Municipal Airport, blew a couple of air conditioning units off the roof at O'Reilly Auto Parts, flipped over a couple of semi trailers at North Central International, Inc., and damaged dozens of cars in the lot at Kohls-Weelborg Chevrolet.
Another report indicated that winds were clocked at 75 mph and that damage was confined to a one-mile radius.
There were also reports of damage to three overhead doors at North Central International, Inc. The company intended to board up the spaces and requested extra police surveillance for the evening.
A gas line broke at the strip mall near WalMart, and Public Utilities workers responded to repair it.
A detour sign was overturned on Highway 14.
Reports also indicated that several trees were damaged by the storm.
