SLEEPY EYE Agu Eelma, 94, of Sleepy Eye, MN and Tracy, CA, died Wednesday, April 25, 2012 at the Sleepy Eye Care Center.
A private funeral service will be held Monday, April 30 at the Schmucker Funeral Service Chapel in New Ulm with Rev. Grant Bode officiating.
Born May 7, 1917 in Tartu, Estonia, he escaped to Germany at the start of the Russian occupation in 1944. He obtained his engineering degree in Germany. Agu met his wife, Laine, while studying there, and married her in Stuttgart in 1948. They emigrated to the U.S. in 1950. He worked as an engineer in Springfield, MA; Minneapolis, MN; and Sunnyvale, CA throughout his career. He was a dedicated husband and father outside of his working hours. He was a member of Kiwanis as well as the IEEE.

Survivors include his wife Laine Eelma of Sleepy Eye, MN; sons, Sven (Jean) Eelma of New Ulm, MN; Steven (Sandy) Eelma of Tracy, CA; daughter, Karen Eelma of Spring Valley, CA; grandchildren and great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by three sisters and one brother.
