Mustangs blank Sleepy Eye, GFW wins

BLHS 7, Sleepy Eye 0

SLEEPY EYE - Buffalo Lake-Hector-Stewart shut out Sleepy Eye 7-0 in a Tomahawk Conference baseball game on Thursday.

Ryan Haun was the winning pitcher for the Mustangs. Haun pitched a complete game, scattering three hits and striking out nine batters.

Dylan Klein was the losing pitcher for Sleepy Eye. Klein struck out eight batters and gave up two unearned runs.

The Mustangs were led at the plate by Ben Maiers who went 3-for-4 with a triple, a run scored, and an RBI. Tyler Pagenkopf was 1-for-3 with two runs scored.

Sam Hirschboeck went 1-for-3 for the Indians.

BLHS (2-1, 1-1) travels to take on Minnesota Valley Lutheran on Monday, while Sleepy Eye (0-4, 0-3) plays at home against Wabasso on Monday.

GFW 4, Wabasso 0

FAIRFAX - Cade Leitheiser threw a complete-game shutout, allowing just two hits as Gibbon-Fairfax-Winthrop defeated Wabasso 4-0 in Tomahawk Conference baseball action.

Leitheiser allowed just two hits and three walks while striking out four batters. Neil Eichten took the loss on the mound for Wabasso, pitching four innings, allowing 10 hits and three runs.

GFW was led in hitting by Leitheiser, Joel Munoz, Zach Black and Brady Forst, who all had two hits apiece. Kenric Baune and Aaron Brau had the only base hits for Wabasso.

GFW (1-2) returns to action on Tuesday as it travels to BLHS. Wabasso (2-1) travels to play at Sleepy Eye on Monday.
