FAIRFAX - Albert "Al" Peichel, 97, of Fairfax, died Tuesday, April 10, 2012 at the New Ulm Medical Center.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 a.m., Friday, April 13, at the St. George Catholic Church in St. George with Father John Berger, Father Germain Rademacher and Father James Moran con-celebrating the Mass. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be 4 - 8 p.m. Thursday and 7:30 - 8:30 a.m. Friday at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in New Ulm and will continue for one hour prior to the time of Mass at church on Friday. There will be a parish prayer service at 6:30 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Albert is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Juliana and Phil Ledermann of St. Paul; sons and daughters-in-law, Tom Peichel and Cathy Seward of Minneapolis, Jerome and Virginia Peichel of Fairfax, Bob and Rita Peichel of Cambridge; nine grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; and by a brother and sister-in-law, Lerry and Jane Peichel of Sleepy Eye.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Leona on September 24, 1995; a daughter, Maria Peichel in infancy; five sisters; and by five brothers.
Albert H. Peichel was born November 1, 1914 in Ridgely Township, Nicollet County to John and Anna (Wurmstein) Peichel. He was united in marriage to Leona Heymans on August 20, 1940 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Sleepy Eye. After marriage they farmed the family farm, which is now a Century Family Farm, in Ridgely Township, Nicollet County until retiring in 1977. Albert served on many church, county, community and township boards in the Fairfax area.
In lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorials to New Ulm Area Catholic Schools or St. Mary's Catholic Schools Scholarship Funds.
