NOTICE OF PUBLIC
HEARING
NOTICE IS HEREBY
GIVEN that the City
Council of the City of
New Ulm, Brown
County, Minnesota will
meet in the Council
Chambers in the New
Ulm City Hall on Tues-
day, April 3, 2012 at
7:00 p.m. to consider
ordering in the follow-
ing improvements to
be made, to-wit:
2012 MINNESOTA
RIVER LEVEE PRO-
JECT
1. Flood Hazard Miti-
gation Project- Con-
struction of a per-
manent flood control
levee adjacent to the
Minnesota River ap-
proximately 5,000 feet
in length, including the
acquisition of real
estate and internal
drainage components
necessary to complete
the project. The levee
shall be constructed to
an elevation two feet
(2') above the base
flood (1% chance)
elevation, and have a
top width of 12 feet,
4:1 (h:v) side slopes..
persuant to Minnesota
Statutes, Sections
429.011 to 429.111.
The area proposed to
be assessed for such
improvements is each
lot, piece and parcel of
property specially
benefited by said im-
provements. A rea-
sonable estimate of
the impact of the spe-
cial assessment as to
each individual parcel
will be available at the
hearing. The total es-
timated cost of the
2012 MINNESOTA
RIVER LEVEE PRO-
JECT is
$2,258,212.50.
Of the total project
cost, the City esti-
mates that approxi-
mately $312,683.50
will be especially as-
sessed against bene-
fited properties. The
City Council has deter-
mined that the
amounts to be special-
ly assessed will be
payable over a period
of up to twenty years
and will bear interest
at the rate of 2.75%
Such persons as
desired to be heard
with reference to the
proposed improve-
ments will be heard at
this meeting.
