SPRINGFIELD - Springfield High School science teacher Amanda Meyer received the 2012 Medtronic Foundation Science Teaching Award from the Minnesota Science Teachers Association.
The award, which honored teaching excellence and included $1,000 to be used for classroom activities, was presented earlier this month at the Minnesota Conference for Science Education at the Duluth Entertainment and Convention Center.
Meyer plans to use the money to start a collaboration between her ecology class and fifth-grade science students. Her ecology students will act as elementary student mentors during outdoor education opportunities.
