To the editor:
Congratulations to the New Ulm Boys High School hockey team and coaches on an outstanding season, their third consecutive Section 3A Championship, their third straight trip to the State Tournament, and great effort against Thief River Falls in the first round of play.
The continued growth and success of the Boys HS Hockey Program under the direction of Eric Setterholm, Mike Peterson, and Chad Kraus has resulted in a team that we can all be proud of. These accomplishments have been achieved even as Section 3A has become very competitive with teams like Marshall and Luverne who have made significant improvements to their hockey programs.
Watching the Eagles playing in Prime Time on TV last Thursday night, with a group of young men who played their hearts out against a Northern Powerhouse, gaining the respect of thousands of viewers, was something special to see. The game was fun to watch, but in the bigger picture what the team accomplished, even though they didn't win the game, benefits much more than our hockey program. Their collective effort presented a very positive picture of our High School and of the New Ulm/Sleepy Eye Communities to the entire state, and that is a true measure of success.
Keep up the great work and continued success!
