MINNEAPOLIS - After playing a tough game Wednesday night, the New Ulm boys hockey team had a bit of a relapse Thursday afternoon.
Rochester Lourdes scored four first-period goals to set the tone, defeating New Ulm 10-1 at Mariucci Arena in the Class A Boys Hockey State Tournament consolation bracket. The loss ends New Ulm's season at 17-13.
"I truly believe we left everything we had on the ice [Wednesday night in a 5-1 loss to Thief River Falls]," New Ulm coach Erik Setterholm said. "We didn't get back to the hotel until almost midnight and the kids weren't sleeping until 1 o'clock in the morning. It's not an easy thing to do, I really believe we left everything we had out on the ice. You need a day to recover from something like that."
