NEW ULM The New Ulm Library Board discussed the 2012 OverDrive agreement for Brown County library users on Thursday at a meeting at City Hall.

Brown County's $3,000 share of the e-book program was divided among libraries. New Ulm will pay $2,022, Sleepy Eye will pay $538, Springfield will pay $321, Hanska will pay $60 and Comfrey will pay $57.

New Ulm, Sleepy Eye and Springfield have already paid their shares. Library Director Larry Hlavsa said he expects to receive the payments from Hanska and Comfrey soon.

The agreement will cover the service's cost into February of 2013. This is the first year the participating libraries have had to paid. The first year's cost was covered by a grant.

The Board also planned for the New Ulm Library's 75th anniversary celebration on Sunday, Feb. 26. An open house will be held at the Library from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. A commemorative painting depicting American Indian life during the early settlement years will be unveiled at the event. The art piece will be presented at 2 p.m. Live music and refreshments will be provided. The event is free to the public.

During the meeting, the Board formally approved the purchase of the artwork. Hlavsa informed the Board that the painting has been completed.
