GAYLORD - LeRoy M. Henke, age 82, of Gaylord, Minnesota, passed away Saturday, February 4, 2012, at Abbott Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

A Memorial Service will be held 10:30 A.M., Tuesday, February 7, 2012, at Bernadotte Lutheran Church in Bernadotte Township, Nicollet County, Minnesota with interment at Fort Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis.

LeRoy Melvin Henke was born on July 31, 1929, in Hutchinson, Minnesota. He was the son of Otto Jr. and Vera (Lewerenz) Henke. LeRoy was baptized as an infant on August 25, 1929, at First Lutheran Church in Hutchinson, and later confirmed in his faith as a youth on April 4, 1943, at Emmanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church in New Auburn, Minnesota. He received his education in Glencoe, Minnesota. LeRoy entered active military service in the United States Air Force on September 9, 1946, and served his country as an Airplane and Engine Mechanic during peacetime. He received an Honorable Discharge on August 30, 1949.

On September 19, 1953, LeRoy was united in marriage to Marian Sylvia Zachow, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Gaylord, Minnesota. This marriage was blessed with two children, Michael and Mary. LeRoy and Marian resided in Gaylord most of their lives. They shared 57 years of marriage.

LeRoy was employed at Nesvig Equipment for 45 years selling "IH" machinery. He was a member of the Gaylord Manthey-Asmus American Legion Post 433 and was on the Gaylord City Council for 6 years.

LeRoy enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, making sauerkraut, refurbishing old trunks and tinkering at his work bench. He was avid Minnesota Vikings fan. He especially loved visiting with his farming friends while trying to sell them RED machinery. LeRoy's greatest love was his family who were at his side when he left this world.

LeRoy is survived by his: Loving Wife, Marian Henke of Gaylord, MN; Daughter, Mary Langhorst and her husband, Steve of Lafayette, MN; Daughter-In-Law, Mary Henke of Chanhassen, MN; Grandchildren, Jaclyn Blair and her husband, Max of Stillwater, MN, Lincoln Langhorst and his wife, Jaclyn of North Mankato, MN; Great-grandchildren, Elly Blair and Tom Blair; Sister, Maxine Maass and her husband, Dale of Gaylord, MN; Brother-In-Law, Roman (Red) Zachow of Gaylord, MN; Sisters-In-Law, Dorothy Agre of Gaylord, MN, Doris Zachow of Minneapolis, MN; Many other relatives and friends.

LeRoy is preceded in death by his parents, Otto Jr. and Vera Henke; Son, Michael Henke; Brothers, Willard Henke, Maynard Henke; Sister, Viola Bergs; Brothers-In-Law, Merlin Bergs, Merton Zachow, Jim Agre; Sisters-In-Law, Gwen Henke, Ruth Henke.
