New Ulm Elaine Schmoll, 85, of New Ulm, passed away Thursday, January 26, 2012 at the Homestead Hospice House of Owatonna.
Funeral service will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, January 30 at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in New Ulm with Rev. Joyce Tollefson Capp officiating. A 2:00 p.m. burial will follow at the Bird Island City Cemetery.
Visitation will be 3:00 5:00 p.m. Sunday at Schmucker Funeral Service in New Ulm and one hour prior to the service at the church.
Elaine Marion Meyer, the youngest child of Ernest and Alice (Rudeen) Meyer, was born December 26, 1926 in rural Bird Island. She attended District #110 grade school and graduated from Bird Island Public High School.
Elaine married Bob Schmoll and with his work they lived in Bird Island, Elgin, Lake Benton and New Ulm, all in Minnesota. She did bookkeeping/secretarial work for several insurance companies. Upon retirement Elaine volunteered at her church, being Financial Secretary for several years. She also delivered Meals on Wheels and volunteered at the Brown County Historical Society.
She is survived by daughters Julie (Gary) Stoning of Plainview, Jann (Byron) Adrian of Burnsville; grandchildren Brian (Kara) Stoning, Amy Stoning, Aaron Stoning, Lutsen Adrian, Stirling Adrian, Siana Adrian, and Sierra Adrian; great-grandchild Benjamin Stoning; sister Doris Klemenhagen; sisters-in-law Virgie Schmoll and Mary Ann Schmoll; nieces, nephews and cousins.
Elaine was preceded in death by her husband Bob in 1996; son Jim in 1990; brother Roger Meyer; brothers-in-law and sister-in-law Clifford Klemenhagen, Sam and Helen Duchene, Vern Schmoll, and Steve Schmoll.
