If we don't do something to limit our dependency on Middle Eastern/Venezuelan oil, we're headed for disaster in the form of an unstable energy source and skyrocketing prices. We've already seen what rogue nations like Iran can do by merely threatening to close a vital oil shipping route by blocking the Strait of Hormuz: Oil and gasoline prices can spike which hurts businesses and the family budget. Imagine what could happen if Iran followed through on this threat.
We need energy from friends and neighbors, not from unfriendly and unstable nations on the other side of the globe. With the Keystone XL pipeline coming from Canada, we get just that: friendly, North-American energy. On top of that, the construction of the pipeline would, according to studies, create nearly 20,000 much needed jobs. Let's get this shovel ready Keystone XL pipeline built to put Americans back to work and bring a more secure source of oil for our Nation's energy needs.
