NEW ULM - Harold "Mushie" Wieland, 80, of New Ulm, died Tuesday, January 3, 2012 at the Oak Hills Living Center in New Ulm.
The funeral service will be 11 a.m. on Saturday January 7 at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in New Ulm with Pastor Joyce Tollefson-Capp officiating. Burial will be in the Soldiers Rest Section of the New Ulm City Cemetery. Full military honors will be conducted at the cemetery by the New Ulm Area Comrades of Valor Honor Guard.
Visitation will be for one hour prior to the time of service at the funeral home on Saturday.

Harold is survived by his wife, JoAnn Wieland of New Ulm; daughter, Kathy Schleif of Minneapolis; sons, David Wieland, Mark Wieland, both of Minneapolis; grandchildren, Andrew Schleif, Alexandra Wieland, Jordan Wieland, Caylin Wieland; sisters and brothers-in-law, Vera Meredith, Laura and Harold Richter, Leonard Breu, all of New Ulm; brothers and sisters-in-law, Vernon "Ader" and Darleen Wieland, James and Bea Wieland, all of New Ulm; many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his sisters, Florence, Alyce, Viola "Ole", Hilda "Nippie"; brothers, Willard and Norman.
Harold Fred Wieland was born on February 7, 1931 in New Ulm to Fred and Ella (Meyer) Wieland. He attended public school in New Ulm and graduated from New Ulm High School with the class of 1949. On November 17, 1956 Harold was united in marriage to JoAnn Miller at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in New Ulm. Harold enjoyed watching all local high school sports and spending time with his grandchildren.
