ST. PAUL - Former Republican Party of Minnesota Deputy Chair Michael Brodkorb resigned from Sen. Mike Parry's campaign for Minnesota's First District on Saturday, following his resignation Friday from the position of communication director for the Senate GOP caucus.
Brodkorb, who left the position of deputy chair in October to serve as a voluntary advisor for Parry's campaign, has offered no official explanation for his resignation yet. Brodkorb did not return calls Saturday.
His Senate departure occurred on the same day that Minnesota Senate Majority Leader Amy Koch (R-Buffalo) was confronted with allegations of an improper relationship with an unnamed staffer.
Brodkorb served as Koch's executive assistant during her time as Majority Leader.
Ben Golnik, an adviser to Parry's campaign, said Brodkorb's departure was his own decision. Golnik said that the campaign had collectively sat down and discussed the troubles at the Capitol when Brodkorb made the decision.
Golnik did not provide any explanation on why Brodkorb chose to resign.
He said nobody has yet been slated to fill Brodkorb's place in the campaign, but he said Parry has plenty of friends and confidants to assist him.
"We'll continue the campaign as usual. We'll continue to draw contrast between Parry and [incumbent Congressman] Tim Walz," said Golnik.
