Nicknames abound at ball park

To the editor:

Hey, Kraut Glotzbach, you have to get to some local baseball games next spring. I enjoyed Kremena Spengler's article and your commentary on nicknames; however disagree that nicknames are no longer utilized. In my years of playing amateur baseball, I have been exposed to a great many nicknames and the following are a few that have worn a Bullhead baseball uniform in recent years.

Gramps, Grumpy, and Stoner have been relied on frequently by the team. Doc, Clubby, and Mo are retired now but I wish they would come back to play again. Henry, Harry, Wheels, and Chief are great minds of the game but sometimes kept us out too late. Ruggy, Mizey, and Dewey were rookies last year, but adjusted to our style of play with some initiations.

You will hear many more modern day nicknames if you listen closely to the shouts from any baseball teams' dugout next year. This, I will guarantee.
