To the editor:
Since the failure of the District 88 referendum on Tuesday we have heard a variety of reactions from parents and community members. Those who voted YES are disappointed and worried. Among those who voted NO are those who were unsure of where the money would go and why it was needed. Regardless of the outcome of the local referendum, we hope we can all agree as community members that we want a high quality education for our children. There are several ways to support our local schools including a monetary contribution, fundraiser support, and through volunteerism.
As parents of children in District 88 and voters who cast a YES ballot, we are personally going to honor our commitment by sending a check to our school. If you feel the same way, please make your contribution payable to ISD #88 and send to:
Superintendent Harold Remme
District Administrative Center
15 North State ST
New Ulm, MN 56073
You can specify how your contribution is used by attaching a note to your check. ECFE, teacher salaries, technology, music, art, Spanish, extra-curriculars, and building maintenance are a few examples.
We hope that through strong community involvement our children can look forward to an excellent educational experience in our local schools.
