To the editor:
The failure of the referendum to maintain a quality education for the children of New Ulm is difficult to stand when you look at how much money has been spent on gambling by adults in New Ulm and Brown County during the past year. Consider the following amounts spent from Junly 2010 to June 2011, as provided by the Minnesota State Lottery:
Brown County: $3,024,220
New Ulm: $2,020,615
Quality schools are crucial for the survival of New Ulm as a growing community. How do the adults of our community justify their unwillingness to help pay for education, when they spend millions on gambling every year?
