October 18, 2011
The Journal

RENVILLE?COUNTY - The body found Saturday afternoon in a Renville County cornfield has been identified as that of Robert J. Verdon, age 56, of Cosmos. The body was discovered by a farmer harvesting the corn in a field northeast of Hector, in Brookfield Township.

In early September, the Renville County Sheriff's Office located and recovered a vehicle belonging to Verdon, which had been found abandoned near the cornfield where his body was ultimately discovered. Verdon's family later filed a missing person's report with the Meeker County Sheriff's Office, the county where Verdon resided.

An autopsy was completed at Midwest Medical Examiner's Office; however, the official cause and manner of Verdon's death is still pending.

The investigation continues.
