SEATTLE (AP) — Friends of a student building monitor at a small Seattle university hailed him as a hero Friday, a day after he pepper-sprayed and tackled a man who went on a deadly shooting rampage at the school.
Jon Meis, 22, and other students subdued the gunman after he opened fire Thursday at Seattle Pacific University's Otto Miller Hall, police and university officials said.
Aaron Ybarra, of the suburb of Mountlake Terrace, was arrested following the shooting that killed a 19-year-old student and wounded two other young people.
Police said Meis tackled the gunman as he paused to reload.
