NEW ULM - Because its space is funded by Brown County, the Brown County License Bureau at 1900 N. Franklin St. is remaining open in the event of a state government shutdown.
"We have plenty of inventory (six months worth or more)," according to Supervisor Suzanne Jensen, "so we are able to sell tabs, renew driver's licenses and transfer titles. The computer access to records will be available as law enforcement needs to view the same records we do."
The office will not be able to sell game and fish licenses, or boat or snowmobile registrations.
The paperwork for titles and driver's licenses will not be processed at the state level in case of a shutdown, but the resident or tax payer will have the necessary documents and receipts from the Brown County office to use until the official title or license is received
