FAIRMONT - Services for Grace Charlotte Hodgman, 93, of Fairmont, will be 1 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 17, 2011, at the Lakeview Funeral Home in Fairmont. Burial will be following the service in the Fairview Memorial Park Cemetery in Fairmont.
Visitation will be one hour prior to the time of service beginning at 12 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 17, at the Lakeview Funeral Home in Fairmont. Grace passed away Sunday, evening Feb. 13, 2011, at her home in Fairmont. The Lakeview Funeral Home of Fairmont is assisting the family with arrangements.
Grace Charlotte (Silverthorn) Hodgman was born May 10, 1917, the daughter of Peter and Catherine (Eiden) Silverthorn in rural Sherburn. She was the youngest of nine children; three brothers, three sisters, and two lost in infancy.

On March 17, 1937, Grace was united in marriage to Kenneth W. Hodgman and was his partner in life for 49 years until his passing in August 1986.
With Kenneth, Grace enjoyed RVing, hunting, fishing, and racing cars. Her grandchildren have many cherished memories of her fantastic cooking and the shore lunches that were her treat after a morning of fishing. A collection of pigs was a source of many stories and smiles.
Left to cherish her memory are her grandchildren, Michael (Katie) Krause of Sioux Falls, SD; Patty (Bill) Tietema of Plymouth; and Laurie (Brad) Werner of Echo. She was a much-loved great-grandmother to Annie Tietema (Matthew Blau), Jason (Jessie) Krause, David Krause, Mariah Werner, and Isaiah Werner. She is also survived by a sister-in-law, June Silverthorn; a beloved nephew, Malcolm "Mac" (Virginia) Silverthorn; as well as many other nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
Grace is preceded in death by her parents, Peter and Catherine Silverthorn; husband, Kenneth Hodgman; daughter, Marilyn Hodgman; siblings, Clare, Ruth, Gladys, Earl, Lyle and Mildred.
