WINTHROP - The Gibbon Fairfax Winthrop (GFW) Board of Education approved a wrestling pair agreement Monday with Nicollet High School.
Under the agreement, a handful of GFW high school boys will practice and have home meets in Nicollet except on Wednesdays when they'll work on weight training and conditioning in Winthrop.
The program will cost the district $2,200-$2,700, GFW Superintendent Tony Boyer said.
"This gives the boys an opportunity to continue their wrestling careers," Boyer added.
The board approved:
A $10,409 quote from Bussler & Son Construction Inc. of Winthrop to satisfy State Fire Marshal orders for additional fire hardware at Fairfax and Winthrop school buildings.
The quote was $136.97 more than Southern Lock & Glass but Boyer felt a local contractor should be awarded the contract since the difference was so minimal.
An anonymous $1,000 donation for the purchase of middle school software.
A student teacher agreement with Southwest State University at Marshall.
Boyer said he'll meet with a district committee to discuss his contract next month.
