HONU searches for new faces, stories for campaign

NEW ULM - The Hearts Beat Back: The Heart of New Ulm Project (HONU) is looking for New Ulmites who've made or are making lifestyle/behavior changes to improve their health, to be the next "face" of the project.

Auditions will be held to select more than one model to help motivate and inspire the community.

The contest is open to residents of the 56073 zip code who have either recently made a lifestyle change; have not yet reached their goal but are working on it; or have not set a goal or started, but are determined to make changes and improve their health this year

Contestants will need to submit a DVD video of no more than three minutes or write a letter of up to 500 words with a photograph that has been taken within 10 days of submission by Friday, Nov. 5 at 5 p.m.

Submissions can be sent to: The Hearts Beat Back: The Heart of New Ulm Project office, New Ulm Medical Center, 1324 Fifth North Street, New Ulm, Minn. 56073.

Winners will be rewarded for their participation and stories will be used in future HONU communications. Winners will receive:

a private session with a registered dietitian

a private session with a personal trainer

one set of "before and after" pictures

a one-hour massage

two free passes for a HONU cooking class

the opportunity to be a featured guest on "What's Cooking New Ulm?" cooking show on local cable access channel nuCAT.

Winners will be announced in early November in The Journal and on the project website at www.heartsbeatback.org.
