NEW ULM - Roger and Peggy Seidl don't milk cows anymore in Mulligan Township but their big farm display was the largest in the house Saturday at the New Ulm Farm Toy Show at the New Ulm Civic Center on the Brown County Fairgrounds.
While her boys were hunting the goose opener Saturday morning, Peggy answered questions about the detailed display including large dairy barns with cut-away displays of cows and milking stalls.
Rice grains portrayed corn cobs.
The display included a miniature paved road running next to the farm.
"Our two boys really enjoy creating the display and remembering how we farmed, when they were small," Peggy said.
She operates a daycare business on the farm.
Roger is a farm machinery mechanic on the home place.
Much of their former farm land was sold to neighbors and Pheasants Forever.
Brad Zender of Butterfield said the show's 10 big farm displays is the most the show ever had.
"We've got 75 tables plus big farm displays," Zender said.
Terry Johnson of St. James displayed a 1/32nd scale custom tractor.
"He does great work and has not shown his custom farm toys in many years," said Bryan Ebbenga of Kasota.
"You would have to travel to the National Farm Toy Show in Dyersville, Iowa to see this many displays at one show," Ebbenga added.
"This is the creative side of the hobby with young and older collectors building farm sites and custom toys," he said.
The 25th annual show continues from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday.
