Antiques Plus moves to Minnesota Street

May 24, 2010
The Journal

NEW ULM - Antiques Plus recently moved from 117 N. Broadway to 28 N. Minnesota St., the former location of the Hallmark store.

The location at the corner of First North and Minnesota is advantageous for the business.

"There is more room now; plus it's brighter in the new store, thanks to better lighting," said store manager Joleen Keckstein.

The store has a wide variety of antiques and collectibles including glassware, enamelware, breweriana, home decor, furniture, records, jewelry, pottery, crocks, trolls, clothing including old wedding dresses and toys.

"We've got goods from 27 dealers now including people from New Ulm and as far away as Granite Falls, Hutchinson and the Twin Cities," Keckstein said.

She added that the store's former location, one of New Ulm's oldest buildings that formerly housed Abel Electric on Broadway had historic significance worth noting.

"There were bullet holes in the rest rooms from the Dakota Conflict," Keckstein said.

Store hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 12 to 4 p.m. Sunday.
