NEW ULM - Community And Seniors Together (CAST) presents its Spring Follies on stage at the New Ulm Community Center, 600 N. German.
Featuring "Boogie-Woogie Bugle Girls" by Stephen Murray, Director Isla Hoffman takes us back to the summer of 1943. While World War II is raging, our Bugle sisters, Betty, Ruthie, and Sissy, turn Grandpa Buddy's Seaside Hotel into the Star-Spangled Canteen where sailors and soldiers can relax, eat, and dance.
Not only do the girls want to help the war effort, but they want to save Seaside from businessman Skylar Schutt, who has a plan to take over the Florida hotel. Add to the plot a platoon of spies sneaking in along the coastline... with efforts by the Ladie's League For Coastal Defense on guard and ever vigilant to foil their mission...this show promises a little something for everyone.

The show was chosen because of the wonderful music and the large cast and they wanted to keep productions with a large cast. They want to keep the community involved as there is so much talent in New Ulm. Hoffman also said working with the intergenerational cast has been challenging but fun.
And there is a wide variety of actors bringing different levels of experience to the play.
"We have folks that have been with us before and we also have new ones," Hoffman said of the cast of both actors and production. "The cast and production crew have worked really hard to have a fun production for the whole family."

This zestful show is filled with terrific songs. Much of the music is patriotic, some of it is humorous, but all has the upbeat harmonizing unique to the era of the 1940s. With a cast of local talent ages eight to 80, this is an 'ageless performance.'
All performances are general admission.
Tickets are $6 if purchased and may be purchased at Cashwise, Hy-Vee, the CAST office and at the door.
