MANKATO - Donald R. Lenertz, age 86, of Mankato, died at his home on Monday, Feb. 8, 2010.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Feb. 11 at SS Peter and Paul Catholic Church with Rev. Joseph LoJacono, IVE officiating.

Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. on Wednesday with a 7:30 p.m. prayer service at Landkamer-Johnson-Boman Funeral Home. Visitation will also continue one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery.

Donald was born on Nov. 15, 1923 in Mankato to Walter and Gertrude (Kreager) Lenertz. He attended SS Peter and Paul grade school.

On July 15, 1947 Don was united in marriage to Agnes Wussow at SS Peter and Paul Catholic Church. Don retired from working at Ag, Lime, and Rock. He was a member of the Eagle Lake American Legion Post 617 and the Teamsters 49ers Union.

Don enjoyed fishing, especially fishing trips up north, Sunday drives around the lake, watching game shows and cooking shows, and playing cribbage and cards. He hosted fish fries at his house and every Christmas Eve he served hot beefs for everyone. Don loved telling stories and spending time with his family.

He is survived by his wife Agnes; children: Mary (Armond) Snelson, Christine (Bob) Schlumpberger, Tom (Sandy) Lenertz, Doreen (Don) Slater, Pam (Mike) Jackson; grandchildren: Dawn (Bill) Napier, Beth Snelson, Melissa (Scott) Braulick, Ruth (Jesse) Dubuque, Bobby, Amanda, Russell, Kayla, and Tyler Schlumberger, Rory and Tara Lenertz, Mike (Alesia) Slater, Mark (Jenny) Slater, Holly (Dan) Hed, and Dustin Jackson; great-grandchildren: Mark, Mollie, Jenny, Belinda, Spencer, Kaitlyn, Sophia, Justin, Isaac, Nick, Logan, Brady, and Brenna; sisters: Helen Fjeld, Delores Yancy, and Shirley (Jim) Bierman; sister-in-law, Mary Lenertz; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Fred and Jerome Lenertz, sister, Patricia Peloquin; brothers-in-law, and sister-in-law.
