NEW ULM Emma Zulauf, 89, of New Ulm and formerly of rural Hanska, died Tuesday, Feb. 2, 2010 at the New Ulm Medical Center.
Funeral service will be 11 a.m., Saturday, Feb. 6 at Faith Lutheran Church in Madelia with Rev. Gene Alms officiating. Burial will take place at a later date.
Visitation will be two hours prior to the service at the church. Schmucker Funeral Service of New Ulm is handling the arrangements.
Emma Roseng, the daughter of August and Hyacenth (Jeanning) Roseng, was born December 29, 1920 in Bern, Switzerland. She was united in marriage to Samuel Zulauf July 26, 1947 in Bern. Emma worked for the Red Cross while living in Switzerland. The couple moved to the United States and made their home in rural Hanska where they raised their family. Emma received her certification from the Chicago School of Nursing. She worked at the Luther Memorial Home in Madelia for many years. Emma was a past member of the Madelia VFW Auxiliary and the WELCA. She especially enjoyed her great-grandkids, grandkids and family. She also enjoyed knitting and Bingo. After her husband's death Aug. 4, 1989, Emma continued to live in her home in rural Hanska until she became a resident of the Oak Hills Living Center in New Ulm. Emma was a member of Faith Lutheran Church in Madelia.
Survivors include her daughters, Rosie Zulauf of New Ulm, Shirley Zulauf of Burnsville, Kay Grams and her husband Don of Hanska; grandchildren, Elle Zulauf, Marty Grams and his friend Miranda Mathiowetz, Chris Grams and his fiance Sarah Allee, Amber (Grams) Goblirsch and her husband Tom; great-grandchildren, Trinity Zulauf and Caleb Grams; nieces, nephews and other relatives.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Samuel Zulauf, Jr.; brother, Andr Roseng; and sisters, Evonne Baumann, Frieda Msser, and Madlaine Zwahlen.
